Austral Plywoods connectaply (Spotted Gum) was used in this boutique apartment building in Waterloo. Prefinished and ready to install, connectaply was the perfect choice for balcony ceilings, soffits and lift well areas.
Opened in August 2012, the Brisbane Supreme and District Court is one of Brisbane’s most significant buildings in decades. The $570 million project took 4 years to complete, and houses 39 courtrooms over 64,000m2 of floorspace. The building occupies an entire city block.
Austral Plywoods is proud to have been involved with this high profile project, having supplied over 12,000 sheets of appearance grade Hoop Pine plywood for use as wall linings and furniture. The photos speak for themselves. Austral Plywoods was chosen for this project due to our:
Kids Pod, a stunning project by architects Mihaly Slocombe is both an attractive and practical design, exhibiting the warmth that Hoop Pine plywood can bring to any living space.

From the architects:
Kids Pod is a pavilion extension to an older project of ours, connected to the original via a glazed bridge. It is located on a vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula, with views across the vines and valley beyond. It contains a bedroom, playroom and bathroom for our clients’ current and future grandchildren. It is a reinterpretation of how we once imagined our own childhood cubbyhouse to be: playful, theatrical, secretive and robust.
Inside, a retractable wall and theatre-inspired curtain divide the rooms, permitting multiple configurations. They can be open and connected, or enclosed for privacy and rest. The corridor is many things: a playroom for toddlers; a reading nook for teenagers; a stage for performances. The plywood lining brings warmth and texture to the rooms, and will absorb the mayhem of growing children with ease.
Austral Plywoods ariaply blackbutt is used to create an attractive ceiling in this outdoor extension.

Project Summary: This Yatala outdoor extension was a perfect way to improve light and airflow into an otherwise unused space. The client was after a contemporary feel which complimented the style of the existing home. She had a taste for warmer tones and was particularly interested in the traditional Brisbane sandstone colours as a theme. To perfect this scheme, dion seminara architecture chose Austral Plywood ariaply in Blackbutt for its colour and its diversity as a finish. The result is an extraordinarily warm and inviting entertainment space.
