Wood products (including plywood) have a number of environmental advantages over alternative building materials. Some advantages include:

Wood is a completely renewable resource.
Wood products require relatively little energy to manufacture compared to other building materials.
Life Cycle Assessments regard wood products as carbon dioxide neutral, as timber plantations act as "carbon sinks".
Timber mills generate very low pollutant emissions compared to other building materials (refer the National Pollutant Inventory).
Wood is easily recyclable.
